After a 47-year English-teaching career which included teaching every kind of writing from the dry prose of technical manuals to flowery poetry, John Carosella is now an “emerging playwright”. His plays reflect his varied life experiences: seminarian for the Catholic priesthood, Benedictine novice, Psyche Aide, retail worker, high school English teacher, and community theatre actor and director. Along the way he co-founded three still-functioning theatre companies: Saint Vincent Summer Theatre, The Cabaret Theatre, and The American Performing Arts Theatre Company. In 2012, his full-length play Celibacy was considered for the Pulitzer Prize. A Life’s Work is his first published play.
